BELLEVUE, WA – New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has moved from outrage to atrocity by asking anti-gun activist federal Judge Jack B. Weinstein to ban any reference to the Second Amendment during a civil lawsuit trial beginning May 27 against Georgia gun dealer Jay Wallace, proprietor at Adventure Outdoors.
The New York Sun reported that Bloomberg’s attorneys made the request. Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, said the move clearly shows that Bloomberg has “total disregard not only for the Second Amendment, but also the First.”
Bloomberg’s attorney on this case, Eric Proshansky, has reportedly argued in a brief that “Any references to the Second Amendment or analogous state constitutional provisions are likewise irrelevant” to the upcoming trial.
“This trial is supposed to be held in a federal court, not a kangaroo court,” Gottlieb stated. “What’s next, a request that Judge Weinstein not allow defense witnesses or rebuttal? Why not just dispense with the trial altogether and lynch Mr. Wallace from the limb of a tree out in Central Park?

NEW YORK - May 7 - The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) supports the New York Civil Liberties Union’s decision to join in the fight to end racial profiling and illegal stop-and-frisk practices by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) with the filing of their new federal stop and frisk lawsuit, Blair v. City of New York, et al.
CCR filed a class action stop-and-frisk lawsuit on April 16, 2008 that charges the NYPD with engaging in racial profiling and suspicion less stops and frisks of law abiding New York City residents. According to CCR attorneys, the named plaintiffs in CCR’s case, Floyd, et al. v. City of New York, et al. – David Floyd, Lalit Clarkson, and Deion Dennis – represent the thousands of New Yorkers who have been stopped without any cause on their way to work, in front of their home, or just walking down the street, primarily because they were men of color. CCR’s plaintiffs filed their case because they are tired of having their rights violated; it is likely the same for the plaintiff in NYCLU’s case.

Traveling around Memphis, you probably don’t think much about terrorists, but law officers do.
It was front and center stage at a round up Saturday.
Operation Sudden Impact included police, deputies, FBI, drug agents, and even gang units all working together to see how crimes may be linked.
“People committing crimes down in Crittenden County might have some kind of warrant, and we might be looking for them in Shelby County. We in turn feed that information into state police, which can give us a national and international nexus if one exists,” says Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell.
He says terrorists usually have other links and because Memphis is a distribution center, it has to be especially on guard. That includes the waterways.
The U.S. Coast Guard in Memphis was a part of Saturday’s round-up, checking a boat on the river.
“We look at everything, the safety of the tow boat in general. We also check out the crew members, just to make sure there is nobody hiding out on the tow boat, felons, criminals etc.,” says Lt. Timothy Martin of the U.S. Coast Guard in Memphis.
They say sharing information and building relationships is a big step in fighting back against those intent on harm.
The Sheriff’s Department says 332 people were arrested, 142 of whom are were fugitives.
Hundreds of dollars were seized and drugs recovered, and 1,292 traffic violations were handed out.
They are determining if and when they plan another round-up.
They all came together to find terrorists and ended up giving out 1,292 traffic violations. I can’t find any reports of a single thwarted terrorist plot. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough, or maybe they’re looking too hard. There is a great video talking about how people doing drugs and gang members are terrorists here.
